Hello, blogosphere!

They say first impressions are hard to break. So there is a lot of pressure here to say something witty and original, to be charming and word-savvy. But I’ll just put it out there: I’m your average girl. Well, actually, I’m a pretty big dork. But average, more or less.

One of the best compliments I ever received was from my friend, Moriya, who once said: “Becky, I love you, because whenever I feel like doing something really dorky, I don’t have to be embarrassed. Because you’re already doing it.”

Now this is a fine compliment, am I wrong? Because being dorky means you don’t care what people think. And that’s just beautiful. And rare. If you knew my mother, you would understand.

But the purpose of this blog is to give my friends and supporters a glimpse into my life, as I dig into ministry and experience God’s faithfulness. I want to share my stories and the stories of the youth I meet and bond with over the summer. Because teens are so impressionable (and because there is a lot of junk out there!), these beautiful young hearts and minds are my mission. My hope is that I could be to them what my leaders and mentors have been to me: encouraging, challenging, real, honest, deep.

It means the world to me to have your support, in whatever form that may be – relationally, prayerfully, financially. If you are interested in supporting me financially, please see the “About” tab in the upper right corner for details.

A million thanks and God bless! xoxo
